Kite And Ethanol Hemelgarn Racing Bring Short Track Strength To Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE WI

Jimmy Kite and Ethanol Hemelgarn Racing are back in action this weekend as they take the #91 Ethanol Dallara/Toyota to the famous Milwaukee Mile for the ABC Supply Co./ AJ Foyt 225. Kite equaled his best finish last weekend in Nashville crossing the finish line in 13th place and the team also brings momentum from short track strength shown in Richmond a couple of weeks ago.

“Each week we are making progress and the entire team is looking forward to taking the next step in Milwaukee,” Kite said.

During the last short track race on the IndyCar Series schedule at Richmond International Raceway in June, the Ethanol Hemelgarn team ran their strongest race of an admittedly tough year. Kite had the team’s best qualifying time starting 13th. Although an early gamble on pit strategy backfired and cost the team several laps, Kite was on pace throughout the event and crossed the line 13th.

Kite is making his sixth IndyCar start of the year since replacing injured driver Paul Dana at the Indianapolis 500. Dana, who was a rookie in the IndyCar Series this year prior to his injury, won last year’s Menards Infiniti Pro Series race at Milwaukee.

Kite continues his double-duty schedule, this time supplementing his IndyCar ride by also driving the No. 5 Westcon Elevators/ Westcon Racing Bloomer Engines Beast in the United States Auto Club (USAC) 100 lap Silver Crown Series feature. It will be Kite’s second Silver Crown event of the year; he finished seventh in the season-opening Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway. Kite made history earlier this season becoming the only driver to ever race both an IndyCar and NASCAR-sanctioned event at the same track on the same weekend. Competing in both the No. 06 MRD Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the Ron Hemelgarn-owned IndyCar at Texas Motor Speedway in June and then Kansas Speedway in July, Kite proved his ability to race two dramatically different types of vehicles.

Saturday’s 100-lap USAC show will start at 4:30 PM (CDT) while the 225-mile IndyCar feature can be seen on ESPN at 2:30 (EDT) on Sunday, July 24.

Ethanol Hemelgarn Racing is backed by a group of companies within the fast-growing ethanol industry, led by the major ethanol design-build firms Fagen Inc., ICM Inc., and Broin Companies. Ethanol is a high octane, high performance fuel that is clean burning, renewable and made in America. As a growing component of the United States' gasoline supply, ethanol delivers improved vehicle performance while reducing emissions and improving air quality. The IndyCar Series has announced that it will switch to ethanol as its fuel source beginning with a 10% blend in 2006 and moving to 100% fuel-grade ethanol in 2007.

The team's 2005 roster of supporting partners under the ethanol banner was announced earlier this week and includes nearly 30 equipment and process technology vendors and suppliers to the ethanol industry.

A major ethanol industry sponsor on the 2005 roster is Ethanol Products. Major associate sponsors are Dakota Gold Marketing, Flottweg, Novozymes, and Victory Energy. Associate sponsors are A&B Process Systems, Advance Tank Construction, Alfa Laval, Brown Tank, Invensys Foxboro, J&D Construction, Laidig Systems, McCormick Construction, Mid America Steel, Monsanto, and WINBCO Tank. Supporters include the American Coalition for Ethanol, Blackburn Construction, E&I Specialists, the Ethanol Promotion & Information Council, the Illinois Corn Marketing Board, New Energy Corp., the Renewable Fuels Association and Tranter PHE. Other friends of the program are Barr-Rosin, Felker Fabrication, Malloy Electric Bearing Supply, SBI Mechanical, Wanzek Construction, and Westfalia Separator.
